International Cricket Council (ICC) has given hype to the upcoming Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, this time by introducing male and female mascots.
The mascots were unveiled during an event in Gurugam, India which was attended by India's U-19 World Cup-winning captains Yash Dull and Shafali Verma. The video of the mascots promo was also shared on social media which once again sparked controversy.
The video features players from India, England, and Australia - considered 'Big Three' in the cricket world. For ignoring the rest of the seven participating teams in the mega event, ICC received massive backlash on X.
Fans bashed the international body for once again prioritising 'Big Three'.
Earlier last month, ICC released World Cup promo in which they not only ignored world number one ODI batter Babar Azam but also had India and England teams featured in the majority of the video.
People from cricket fraternity highly criticised ICC for their special treatment towards India and England.
ICC dropped World Cup's promo, featuring Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan in lead role.
The promo also featured Jemimah Rodrigues, defending captain Eoin Morgan, Jonty Rhodes and Shubman Gill.
World Cup will start on October 5 with defending champions England taking on World Cup 2019 finalists New Zealand. The final of the event will be held on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
